March 18, 2008

Friday March 21:  Ice Boating There is a group of hearty sailors that regularly meet wherever the ice is thick enough to spend Saturdays sailing in the winter.   Dick Wollam, Vice Commodore, and Julie from the Grand Traverse Ice Yacht Club will be here this Friday to present The World of Iceboating.  Just this last weekend about 75 ice boats participated in the GTIYC’s annual Fun Regatta at Elk Lake.  There were kids with Opti rigs on smaller boats for the Opti Central Regional’s, the reigning DN World champion and past champions, and sailors from all over the Midwest!  Dick and Julie will present information, pictures and maybe have a boat here to look at this Friday, March 21!..
